Issues in Philosophy of Memory 5
Sarah Robins (Purdue University)
Every two years* the Philosophy of Memory community comes together to celebrate and share current work in the field. Since Sven Bernecker organized the first meeting at Universität zu Köln in 2017, it’s been called Issues in the Philosophy of Memory (IPM). Plans are underway for the next IPM, and The Memory Palace will have a front row seat. I’m excited to be organizing Issues in Philosophy of Memory 5 - to be held at Purdue University (West Lafayettte, Indiana, USA) June 10-12, 2026.
The keynote speakers are set, as is a symposium on Living Without Memory, a forthcoming book on amnesia by Carl Craver (WUSTL) and Shayna Rosenbaum (York). The rest of the program is still open. Extended abstracts will be accepted until December, 20th. Details below.
As I’ve been saying since the Philosophy of Memory Organization (PhOMO) was founded at the inaugural IPM:
Avoid FOMO for PhOMO, submit and join us!

Membership rates will be: faculty $50, postdocs $35, students $20, subvention for those with limited funds $5. Information about membership will soon be provided by PhOMO. Membership need not be finalized until just prior to the IPM5 meeting. There will be no additional registration fee for IPM5 beyond PhOMO membership.
Signing up to the PhOMO mailing list is a great way to catch all updates about IPM and other PhOMO activites. Mailing list sign-up is on the PhOMO website: https://sites.google.com/view/phomo/events.
