IPM5: Program and Preview
Sarah Robins (Purdue University)
With our focus on memory, The Memory Palace is often more about the past than the future. There are also times when we look forward: one month from now will be the final day of Issues in Philosophy of Memory 5.
The 5th biennial Issues in Philosophy of Memory (IPM5) conference will take place at Purdue University, June 10-12, 2026. The program (available here) features more than 50 participants, representing universities from 16 different countries. Their presentations will explore a range of questions about memory, from aphantasia to abduction, forgetting to representational format, as well as the relevance of games and gossip.
There will be 7 keynote talks:
Andrea Blomkvist (Glasgow)
David Colaço (LMU Munich)
Muhammad Ali Khalidi (CUNY)
Amy Kind (Claremont McKenna)
Ying-Tung Lin (NYCU)
Michael Martin (Oxford/Berkeley)
Barbara Montero (Notre Dame)
There will also be a book symposium with Carl Craver and Shayna Rosenbaum on their Living Without Memory: Amnesia and the Lives of Persons
Attendance at IPM5 is welcome and encouraged!
Attending IPM meetings requires becoming a member of PhOMO, the Philosophy of Memory Organization. The PhOMO Steering Committee has worked hard to make the process easy, accessible, and affordable. To learn more about the conference and become a member, visit the PhOMO website.
IPM conferences are designed as in-person events. Regrettably, this means that several philosophers who have travel limitations will be unable to present. We hope to feature at least some of their work on the Palace in the months ahead. Stay tuned! PhOMO also holds a biennial virtual conference, aimed at early career researchers, in alternating years with IPM meetings.
